Fraser Property Australia's Passive House project in Life, Point Cook has been certified by Passive House Plus, making it one of the first properties in the country to be certified.

Passive house certified residences aim to achieve outstanding energy efficiency through a variety of implementation methods, including double (or triple) glass windows, continuous insulation (according to the local climate) and airtight measures to reduce air leakage and better regulation Indoor temperature control greatly reduces heating and cooling costs, saves energy, and improves air quality and comfort.

Frasers Property is the first major developer to support the passive house movement in Australia. Building standards have become a phenomenon throughout Europe, and Australian developers and architects hope to build in accordance with regulations more frequently.

Since GI Energy donated 18 new solar panels, the residence of Life, Point Cook has passed the Plus certification. Passive House Plus houses refer to houses where the energy generated by on-site rooftop solar photovoltaic power generation is at least more than the energy consumed in one year. The solar panel system will use the latest shingled battery technology to generate an average of 24 kilowatt-hours of energy per day across seasons, thereby enhancing the high-level sustainability of the family.

Sarah Bloom, general manager of VIC development at Fraser Property Australia, said that although there are about 40 passive house certified buildings in Australia, Life, Point Cook is the first of large developers.

"Now that we have implemented the application of passive house design and construction technology, we can consider affecting our systems and supply chain to provide more energy-efficient and sustainable standards for all our customers," she said.

"Some of the materials used in the building are very professional, such as double-glazed windows that must be imported from Germany. Some design elements are very detailed, such as thicker walls and the necessary design interactions to ensure that they meet the floor and ceiling to make The house does not emit heat in winter or lose its coolness in summer.

"The key to making passive houses more widely available is to improve the supply chain of such products and technologies. Being able to obtain the necessary products and expertise locally in a cost-effective manner without having to purchase from overseas will drive demand and increase production.

"If we can create these professional products in a cost-effective way and source these expertise locally, we can work hard to make these technologies part of the Australian standard home design."

This house was built by Creation Homes. Greg Pollard, Senior Project Manager of Creation Homes, said the company is very proud of the successful completion of the Passive House.

"Entering such a new innovative construction, we expect to encounter challenges in obtaining this certification. Considering the additional time, energy and education to achieve strict restrictions on insulation and air tightness, it has always been our most valuable construction. One," he said.

"Considering the thermal efficiency of the Passive House, it is great to see that the payback period of the house is compared with the control house in the manor."

Buyers of houses must agree to participate in a 12-month trial in which Fraser Properties will monitor energy performance data, which will be measured and compared with seemingly identical houses placed side by side under the same environmental conditions.

Paul Wall, CEO of the Passive House Association of Australia, praised Frasers for being the first major developer in Australia to obtain Passive House certification.

“Consumers are increasingly aware of the positive impact of a good indoor environment on their health and well-being, and Fraser Properties’ vision has further enhanced their reputation as leading thinkers in the field of built environment,” he said.

"The project represents the best practice in the world, delivered in an Australian environment, using local climate data and construction technology, and professionally delivered by the Fraser Real Estate team."
